Remodel of an existing 530 sf residence. The project was one of the smallest platable lots in Austin. The house had to be lifted in place and set back down. The construction constraints for the project were extremely limited as we were allowed to modify the residence within the existing tent of the building. We slightly reconfigured the shell of the building to become a monoclad structure with a small indention at the front for the entry. The entire exterior volume, roof and walls, were clad using a charcoal stainless tile that was highly reflective. The reflectivity of the facade helps the project have a chamelion like presence as it reflects it immediate surroundings and have different tonal looks throughout the day. The interior spaces were vaulted to allow for as much as possible, while new apertures in the wall and roof were added to mazimize daylight. The project was built executed on a modest budget.
