North Austin Bungalow Mixer Upper - When a young couple wanted to renovate and expand their small bungalow to fit their growing family, a two-story addition was planned in the rear to accommodate additional bedrooms. The project scope eventually evolved into a new build where the proportions and charm of the original house were closely referenced.  The resulting design is a one-story bungalow-esque volume, which houses the main living spaces, a mudroom, and a library/guest room, with a two-story addition in the rear. The traditional bedroom arrangement was flipped so the main ensuite is located above the kids rooms. This arrangement gives privacy to the parents and allows for an expansion to the kids wing in the future.
